- Designing or redesigning plans so that structure meets management’s goals and objectives

Retiree medical plans and the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003
Under recent legislation, sponsors of a retiree medical plan that includes prescription drug coverage, may qualify for a 28% federal subsidy. Disclosures regarding the effect of the subsidy are also required. RSM McGladrey Retirement Resources can help determine eligibility for the subsidy by performing an “Actuarial Equivalence Test” to Medicare Part D. We can also help determine the impact and accounting treatment of the subsidy under FASB Statements No. 132 and 106 and discuss potential plan redesign options.
