Performance Measurement and Improvement

At RSM McGladrey, we offer the following performance measurement and improvement services:

Performance measurement
Accurately assessing opportunities and determining needed adjustments to the current service mix requires detailed analyses of information from several different sources. We assist our clients with defining product or service lines, as well as developing measurement and reporting systems that enable them to effectively manage these product or service lines. Our approach is designed to help provide financial and market position information — a critical component to making informed business decisions.

Benchmarking
Benchmarking is a frequently used method of determining areas of improvement for an organization. Health care organizations often rely on outside organizations to provide performance measures for finance, quality and utilization. However, our approach is designed enable an organization to evaluate its own performance. We place emphasis on identifying the operating processes that produce superior performance. The types of benchmarking we provide include:

  • Business process benchmarking: Our process begins with the grouping of participants with similar characteristics for purposes of benchmarking and comparison. Participants then complete detailed questionnaires by area. The benchmarking process is completed with a meeting of all participants to discuss the results and to share ideas for best practices.
  • Productivity benchmarking and management: Through our labor productivity benchmarking system, we address organizational staffing levels and provide the means to control labor costs on an ongoing basis. Using labor targets, we simplify personnel budgets — making them volume-driven.
