Forging New Partnerships: How to Thrive in Today’s Global Value Chain
In the new value chain, small and medium manufacturers are more than just suppliers to upstream producers. You are integral partners in creating new technologies, products, services and business models. This session is based on the newly released report of the same name, co-authored by the National Association of Manufacturers, The Manufacturing Institute and RSM McGladrey. Report findings have been referenced throughout the business community in several publications, including the Financial Times, Industry Week and Manufacturing & Technology Today.

About the speakers:
Bill Canis is vice president for research and innovation at The Manufacturing Institute, the research, education and workforce arm of the National Association of Manufacturers. The mission of the Institute is to strengthen the manufacturing economy by increasing the knowledge and respect for our industry and by creating and implementing human capital strategies.
Tom Murphy is the executive vice president of manufacturing and wholesale distribution at RSM McGladrey. He oversees RSM McGladrey’s national manufacturing and wholesale distribution practice, the organization’s largest industry practice. As an industry practice leader, Tom ensures delivery of high-quality service offerings that respond to the changing needs of midsized manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors.
Innovation in Manufacturing Award - Call for entries:
The Nebraska Innovation in Manufacturing Award recognizes individuals and/or manufacturing companies that demonstrate a commitment to innovation and new ways of doing business – in products, processes, technologies and strategies.
This annual award is sponsored by RSM McGladrey, a leading professional services firm providing accounting, tax and business consulting, in partnership with the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Manufacturing Council.
Our goal is to recognize the individuals and companies who are helping to change the face of manufacturing in Nebraska. Nominations are open to small and midsized manufacturers (SMM) that have annual revenues up to $750 million.
Nominations are due Monday, April 28, 2008. The award recipient will be recognized at the Nebraska State Chamber Manufacturers Council Annual Meeting on May 14 in Ashland, Neb.
