12th Annual Large Clinic Group Conference: Leading the Way in Physician Compensation Trends and Planning

RSM McGladrey Inc.’s National Health Care Consulting Group would like to invite you to attend the Large Clinic Group Conference, which will be held May 15-16, 2008 at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Boca Raton, Florida.

The conference will begin Thursday morning and end at noon on Friday. As we have done in prior years, we have timed the conference in order to be able to discuss, analyze and receive feedback on the 2008 Large Clinic Compensation and Productivity Report. A tentative agenda is included with this document.

The cost of this meeting is $795 per person. The fee includes the meeting on Thursday, as well as breakfast and lunch; and a special dinner event on Thursday night; and the Friday morning meeting with breakfast.  Any guest you may bring is welcome to participate in Thursday evening’s dinner event at a cost of $50.  We will invoice you upon receipt of your registration.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be submitted in writing by Friday, April 25, 2008 in order to receive a refund. No-shows are not eligible for refunds. Substitutions are welcome and will not incur a processing fee.

Thursday, May 15

  • 7:30 a.m. - Continental Breakfast

  • 8:00 a.m. - Welcome, Introductions, Overview and Hot Topic List Introduction

  • 8:30 a.m. - Results of the 2008 Compensation & Productivity Survey – Brad Vaudrey and Sara Loos
    This segment will provide a detailed look at the results of the “hot-off-the-press” 2008 Large Clinic Compensation & Productivity survey.  We will provide insight into various comparisons of the data, suggest ways to use the information, and provide an opportunity to discuss operation, location, size and other parameters that might impact compensation across organizations.  There will also be time for open discussion for the group to talk about definitions and other questions about the survey.

  • 9:30 a.m. - Compensation & Productivity Trend Analysis – Brad Vaudrey
    Here we look back to the historical data to provide indicators of general trends of compensation and production activity for several specialties.  This will assist in how your organization may prepare for increased salaries in certain specialties due to demand, procedure changes or other industry influences.

  • 10:15 a.m. - Break

  • 10:30 a.m. - Lahey Clinic – Dr. Bernard Pfeifer
    Dr. Pfeifer sits on the Relative Value Unit Committee (RUC) for the Center of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).  His discussion will provide insight to the changes of the 2006 to the 2007 Medicare reimbursement schedule along with insights into future of CMS and changes that may impact your organization.

  • 11:30 a.m. - Hot Topics of Today Discussion / Panels – Networking Opportunity
    At this time we will use the previously assembled Hot Topic issues and facilitate an open discussion for the group.  This gives the group the opportunity to provide feedback to questions raised.  This is always a great networking opportunity and often several “mini-surveys” are conducted so attendees can take back measured responses to their organizations.   We will also ask several attendees to serve on a panel that will focus on the most common issues.

  • 12:00 p.m. - Lunch

  • 1:00 p.m. - Hot Topics of Today Discussion- Networking Opportunity Continued
    We will have three breakout rooms to discuss topics that are important to your group.  Each group will be facilitated by a member of the McGladrey team.

  • 2:30 p.m. - Break

  • 2:45 p.m. - Park Nicollet – Dr. Michael Feldman
    Park Nicollet will provide an opportunity to learn about the compensation structure of their organization and the evolution of their current work RVU based model.

  • 3:45 p.m. - Benefits Survey Results – Brad Vaudrey and Courtney Helmstetter
    The Large Clinic Group also conducts several other surveys during the year.  One of these surveys is the Large Clinic Benefits Survey. This section will provide updates and discussion of preliminary results for this survey. 

  • 4:30 p.m. - Closing Comments

  • 8:15 a.m. - Bassett Physician Group – Dr. William Streck
    Bassett Physician Group will provide an opportunity to learn about the compensation structure of their organization, challenges and obstacles they have encountered, and how they have implemented quality measures into their compensation system. 

  • 9:15 a.m. - Billings Clinic  - Dr. Mark Rumans, Ms. Susan Walton
    This segment will provide an opportunity to learn about the overall compensation structure of the organization and how annually they use market data to set compensation per rvu rates.  They will describe the challenges the 2007 RVU changes created within their RVU based compensation plan and the analytical process, methodology, and communication used to implement the new rvus.

  • 10:00 a.m. - Break

  • 10:15 a.m. - Benchmark Study – Brad Vaudrey and Sara Loos
    This segment will provide the results of the 2007 RVU/CPT Benchmarking Study.  Topic discussions will include a Medicare update on 2008 CPT and reimbursement adjustments and how they could affect the organization and survey results.  The speakers will also look at case studies regarding physician RVU productivity and coding practices.  The last portion of the presentation will look at revenue and cost RVU measures, how coding differences impact productivity, and overall practice differences between groups.

  • 12:00 p.m. - Closing Comments
