What do you do to increase diversity while getting the best and the brightest to join your organization? Send in the president!

RSM McGladrey President Steve Tait was hosted to a day-long executive forum at Florida A&M University (FAMU). FAMU is one of four historic black colleges that have been designated as national recruiting sources for RSM McGladrey. This was a school of business activity hosted by the new dean.

Tait addressed students and faculty, discussed his road to success and answered questions. “I thought the visit was awesome. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the students and the depth of their questions,” says Tait. “It seems to me that this school takes very seriously the challenge of best preparing their students for the business world. I see my visit as the beginning of a great long-term relationship.”

William Wiggins, the FAMU president of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), shares Tait’s sentiments. “I feel that the forum visit was an amazing success. Mr. Tait’s speech was truly inspirational. I had students coming up to me asking when RSM McGladrey will have their recruiting event. In addition, members of NABA,including myself, have taken notice of ads in The FAMUan, our student newspaper. All in all, I would have to say that this event has given RSM McGladrey great exposure, and I hope we can build on this great start.”

The director of the forum series, Doris Corbett, was also very pleased with the outcome. “We thoroughly enjoyed the visit of Mr. Tait to our campus. He is warm and personable and had no problems connecting in a‘special way’ with our faculty and students. He even insisted we call him Steve. We are so excited about the potential of the RSM McGladrey relationship.”
