We recognize the importance of building diversity in our workforce and have taken a very strategic approach to reaching out and recruiting from a wide range of talent pools - to both experienced and entry-level professionals, women and minorities. Some of our recruitment initiatives for women include:

  • Creation of formal employee-resource groups such as our Directors of Women’s Leadership who drive idea creation, and leadership support to create and retain a diverse work force.
  • Creation of partnerships and alliances with professional associations which help women with career planning and employment selection such as the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE). NAFE offers our employees access to business, professional and leadership development opportunities, creating a win-win for both of us.
  • Advertisement in diversity media including magazines and Web sites, targeted to women such as Working Mothers Magazine, NAFE, Women for Hire (WFH), university newspapers and others.

Though we have enjoyed considerable success with the employment of women, we acknowledge the challenges to their retention at the more senior levels and have extended our recruiting outreach to them.  At the same time, Women’s Leadership strives to significantly improve the retention, development, and leadership paths of women.

We also recognize the importance of workforce development, progress and retention.  We strive to create a compelling employee experience by building a culture of respect and encouraging fun. Our focus on WorkLife flexibility is an important part of that.  Women have demonstrated that flexibility is the most important reason for leaving the accounting profession. Flexibility is critical to our retention objectives. As Steve Tait , president of RSM McGladrey has said, “A culture of flexibility is critical to our business success and is the right thing to do for our employees, our clients and our company.”  The quality and extension of our programs has been recognized by Working Mother magazine and others.
