Not-For-Profit Organizations

Sophisticated advice and solutions that work, all with a keen appreciation for your resources

Experience in the not-for-profit sector
Working with not-for-profit organizations is important to us. Our Boston-area offices, in particular, have a long tradition of working with organizations involved in education, human services, health care and the arts. Currently we serve more than 200 non-profit organizations including colleges, private and special education schools, professional associations, human service and home health agencies, long-term-care facilities, arts organizations and many others.

The knowledge we have gained in serving these clients allows us to address technical issues quickly and effectively. Since we have a depth of knowledge in your industry, we are prepared to get down to business. Our not-for-profit team is comprised of approximately 15 partners, directors and managers along with numerous other staff dedicated to serving the needs of not-for-profit organizations.

Locally, we serve many 501(c)(3) organizations who receive federal funds. The accounting and consulting professionals in our not-for-profit group have a comprehensive knowledge of accounting requirements, grant administration regulations, federal procurement regulations and cost-accounting standards and their impact on organizations doing business with the government.

Not-for-profit Best Practices Survey
To demonstrate our commitment to the not-for-profit industry, each year our Boston-area offices sponsor the Not-for-profit Best Practices Survey.

Dedicated tax-exempt team
We have an experienced consulting team dedicated to improving the accountability and efficiency of tax-exempt organizations, including counseling on their ongoing compliance with federal, state, local and various other regulatory agencies. The group is experienced in the review of organizational tax and reporting compliance such as: intermediate sanctions, unrelated business income, advertising versus sponsorship issues, disclosure requirements, lobbying issues, website reviews, merchandise sales, charitable solicitation, IRS representation and industry specific issues affecting the varied components of the not-for-profit sector.

Staying abreast of the issues
Backed by the resources of a national firm, we monitor governance and operational issues, tax law changes, and other relevant developments, and communicate them through association conferences, client workshops, e-mail alerts, seminars, board and management training sessions and newsletters.
