Zach Johnson
Propelled by his first major
victory at the 2007 Masters Tournament, Zach has established himself as one of
the game’s best and most consistent players. In addition to his Masters win,
which came in cold, windy conditions at Augusta National Golf Club, Zach also
won his second AT&T Classic title and earned nine top-10 finishes in 2007.
He ended 2007 ranked seventh in the FedEx Cup Standings and 15th in the Official
World Golf Rankings.
Since 2004, his rookie year
on the PGA Tour, Zach has finished in the top 40 all four seasons. In 2003 he
broke virtually all the Nationwide Tour’s major records and that year won the
Jack Nicklaus Award for Player of the Year. Zach made his Ryder Cup debut in
2006 and his Presidents Cup debut in 2007.
Zach’s altruistic nature
rivals his achievements. In conjunction with AEGON USA, he has developed a charitable program called “Birdies that Care” in which each Birdie and Eagle he makes on the PGA TOUR results in a $50/$100 (respectively) donation to this year’s recipient, Waypoint. Waypoint, formerly the YWCA, strengthens and empowers women and families in their life's journey by providing advocacy, crisis intervention, supportive services, shelter, quality child care, and community leadership.
Zach became a father, welcoming his first child, Will, into the world on January 4, 2007.
