Summary of experience
Steve Tait was named president of RSM McGladrey Business Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of H&R Block, in 2003. He oversees strategy, leadership and overall performance of all of RSM McGladrey’s professional services businesses.
Under Tait’s direction, a strategic transformation of the business is under way to accelerate growth. He has introduced new systems and structures and developed new sales and marketing competencies to position the company for greater success. Enhancements to the company’s business process architecture have improved planning, alignment and accountability throughout the business. These initiatives have resulted in improved financial performance with substantial revenue growth during the past four years.
Tait has also built new senior leadership teams across the enterprise, consolidating existing internal strengths with externally recruited talent with the experience to improve overall performance. He champions a managing-for-results approach that focuses on a closed loop process of business alignment, measurement and continuous improvement from strategy through to operational performance and implementation.
Prior to joining RSM McGladrey, Tait was executive vice president of sales and client operations for the Gartner Group, a world leader in technology research and advisory services. In that role, he had full responsibility for all of Gartner’s international operations, plus global responsibility for sales and client services.
Before joining Gartner, Tait spent 18 years at Xerox Corporation. He held numerous leadership positions, including president of Xerox Connect, a wholly owned subsidiary providing consulting and IT solutions to business clients. In leading a variety of Xerox’s business units during his career, he developed business and marketing strategies and led sales teams and technology businesses in the United States and Europe.
Education
A graduate of Coventry University in England, Tait received his honors degree in business studies in 1982. He received his master’s degree, with distinction, from the Edinburgh Business School at Heriott-Watt University in Scotland in 2005. Tait is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
