Summary of experience
Doug Opheim leads U.S. client operations for RSM McGladrey. He is responsible for plan delivery and operational management of all business units in the United States, including client-related processes involving account management and service delivery. He is also responsible for the execution of U.S. mergers and acquisitions.
Previously, Opheim was senior vice president, responsible for financial issues, internal technology infrastructure, systems development and operational supervision at several economic units (regional offices).
In 1996, Opheim became regional coordinator of audit and accounting, based in McGladrey & Pullen’s Minneapolis office. He oversaw the quality control aspects of the audit and accounting practice for 13 offices. One of his projects was developing the first-ever paperless audit for midsized businesses — a means of streamlining and improving the quality of the audit process.
Opheim joined the McGladrey & Pullen board of directors in 1996. During his three years on the board, he helped accomplish the merger of the firm’s tax and consulting services into H&R Block (NYSE: HRB).
Opheim joined McGladrey & Pullen in 1980 as a staff accountant. He spent 16 years working in the Des Moines, Minneapolis and Elkhart, Ind., offices. During that time he helped reengineer a national audit process. Opheim became a partner in 1988.
Opheim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Education
He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in 1980.
